Dr John Percy is a graduate of the University of Sydney Medical School. On finishing his postgraduate surgical training in Sydney he worked in the United Kingdom for over three years. He was at St Mark’s Hospital London in a research and clinical capacity with Sir Alan Parks. He returned to specialist practice on the North Shore and is now a Visiting Medical Officer at Royal North Shore Hospital and North Shore Private Hospital.
His special interest is in Colorectal Surgery. He has expertise in all aspects of bowel surgery including surgery for bowel cancer (colon and rectal cancer), diverticulitis and surgery for inflammatory bowel disease. He has particular expertise in trans anal endoscopic microsurgical excision of rectal tumours (TEM procedures). Less serious problems such as haemorrhoids, anal fistula and anal fissure form an everyday part of his practice. (Rectal bleeding should never be ignored.) Colonoscopy can reduce the need for major surgery and is an important and large part of Dr Percy’s practice.
Dr Percy also does some general surgical procedures such as laparoscopic and open hernia surgery.
